The longer Jack Ryan is around, the younger the actors playing him become.
Tom Clancy’s singular character creation has anchored the plots of five movies, starting with 1990’s “The Hunt for Red October” and continuing with “Jack Ryan: Shadow One,” which opens Christmas Day.
Four different actors have played the CIA operative over the course of the films.
In “The Hunt for Red October,” Alec Baldwin played the spy, replaced by Harrison Ford in 1992’s “Patriot Games.”
Ford reprised the role in 1994’s “Clear and Present Danger,” with Ben Affleck taking over for Ford in 2002’s “The Sum of All Fears.”
In the newest movie, “Jack Ryan: Shadow One,” the espionage agent will be depicted by “Star Trek” alumnus Chris Pine.
