Angels right-hander Tommy Hanson scratched due to forearm tightness

DETROIT — Angels right-hander Tommy Hanson was scratched from Wednesday night’s start against the Detroit Tigers because of tightness in his right forearm. Right-hander Billy Buckner, who got the last two outs of Tuesday night’s 14-8 victory in Comerica Park, started in Hanson’s place.

Hanson, who was rocked for seven runs and six hits in two innings of his last start against the Seattle Mariners on Thursday night in Anaheim, felt tightness while warming up in the bullpen before the game. He has a 4-2 record and 5.10 earned-run average in nine starts this season.

Hanson was slowed by triceps tightness in spring training, and he missed about a month while on the bereavement and restricted lists following the death of his 24-year-old stepbrother.
