‘War Horse,’ ‘Tintin,’ ‘Hugo’ among sound editing winners

Steven Spielberg scored big at the Motion Picture Sound Editors Golden Reel Awards on Sunday night, earning honors for both his animated ‘The Adventures of Tintin’ and his live action World War I film, ‘War Horse.’
The prizes, which included special awards for producer Gale Anne Hurd, who received the 2012 MPSE Filmmaker Award, and a career achievement award for sound designer and editor George Watters II, were presented at the Westin Bonaventure.
‘War Horse’ took the award for sound editing: sound effects and foley in a feature film, while ‘Tintin’ won for sound editing: sound effects, foley, dialogue and ADR in an animation film.
