Stop the presses -- it’s National Pie Day!
Dreamed up by -- who else? -- the American Pie Council, this faux holiday is dedicated to celebrating anything you can place on, or between a flaky crust.
Sure, you can celebrate this hallowed day by going out and buying a pie. Or, you can try your hand at pie-making.
Here are a few L.A. Times test kitchen recipes to choose from:
Lemon pie with Italian meringue
Wildflower honey, apple and goat cheese tart (Not technically a pie, but it does involve a crust, and we doubt the pie council will come after us.)
Walnut and raisin pie (One of our top recipes of 2008)
