The Luckyrice Festival, a celebration of Asian food, is set to hit Los Angeles on Aug. 4, hosted by chef Sang Yoon of Father’s Office and Lukshon. Luckyrice just had its sold-out inaugural Las Vegas event, and earlier this year completed its third New York festival.
For the L.A. version of the event, the open-loft warehouse within HD Buttercup at Culver City’s Helms Bakery complex is to be transformed with Chinese boudoirs and pagodas.
Chefs including Susan Feninger of Street, Bryant Ng of Spice Table, Jet Tila of Charleston, Kris Yenbamroong of Night + Market, Mohan Ismail of RockSugar, Diep Tran of Good Girl Dinette and Jenee Kim of Parks BBQ are to be among the participants.
Mixologists including Rosie Ruiz of Big Bar, Jaymee Mandeville of Drago Centro, Joseph Brooks of Mixology 101 and Gary Hayward of Bombay Sapphire are to serve 16 custom Asian-styled cocktails featuring Bombay Sapphire East and other spirits. Alcohol connoisseurs can enjoy Singha Beer, craft sake and shochu, and homemade ginger ales.
Luckyrice is set for Saturday, Aug. 4, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at HD Buttercup/Helms Bakery Building. 3225 Helms Ave., Los Angeles. Tickets are $50 for general admission and $88 for VIP access. VIP access is from 7 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and provides all-evening access to a VIP chefs lounge. Tickets can be purchased at www.luckyrice.com.
