‘No show’ for WGA winners, for now

Rumors about a stripped-down Writers Guild of America award show were bouncing around town this morning as nominations were announced. However, it looks as if the WGA, West, has decided that this is no time for a party (at least until the strike is settled), putting its award celebration, scheduled for Feb. 9, on hold (winners will still be announced on that date). The WGA, East, ‘has not yet made a decision on the New York-based WGAE show,’ according to spokeswoman Sherry Goldman. Here’s the WGAW release:

WGAW STATEMENT ON 2008 WRITERS GUILD AWARDS
Los Angeles – The Writers Guild of America, West will be announcing the 2008 Writers Guild Awards winners on February 9. There will be no Writers Guild of America, West show until the strike is over.
