Lawndale orders up three double-doubles

Call it double-double trouble.

Not one. Not two. But three Lawndale boys’ basketball players recorded double-doubles in a 63-44 ambushing of Animo on Friday night.

Markeith Cungious had 18 points and 13 rebounds, Jamond Essex tallied a 12 and 13 and Marquel Jones had a 19 and 10. Ah, yes, Jones also chipped in 10 assists for a career-first triple-double.

Winners of seven consecutive games, the Cardinals (15-2) will play Torrance in a Pioneer League showdown on Jan. 9.
