Bell, Young among CIF Model Coach Award winners

Santee’s Glenn Bell, and Roosevelt’s Haruko Ruby Mayeda were among the 13 coaches recognized statewide by the CIF as 2007-08 Model Coach Award winners. The awards are presented to coaches considered to be positive role models in their schools and communities.

Bell coaches football and boys’ tennis at Santee, and Mayeda coaches girls’ basketball at Roosevelt.

Southern Section awardees were Bill Grisham, who coaches water polo and swimming at Arlington, and Andrea Sims, who coaches volleyball at Downey.

The winners will receive an award at their sport’s state championship or an event of the awardee’s choosing.
