La Canada to meet Renaissance Academy in ‘War on the Floor’

Attention high school boys’ basketball fans: Cancel whatever plans you might have had for Saturday because you’re not going to want to miss any of the action at the War on the Floor Extravaganza, a one-day showcase of highly competitive hoops being held at three different sites in the Valley.

One of the more interesting match-ups is at Taft High, pitting crosstown counterparts La Canada and Renaissance Academy, ranked No. 15 by The Times. Tipoff is set for 2:15 p.m. and pride will be at a premium in this one, considering this is the first meeting between the programs separated by less than three miles.

Cleveland and Sylmar headline the event at 8:15 p.m. in a classic City Section clash. But make no mistake, there are plenty of other good teams, such as Price, Santa Barbara and Twentynine Palms, competing over the course of the day. For a complete rundown of the schedule click here.
