Baseball: Only one Southland player taken in Round 27

Ryan Cook, a right-handed pitcher from USC who’s from the Fresno area, was the lone player with any ties to the Southland taken Friday in Round 27 of Major League Baseball’s first-year player draft. Cook was drafted 828th overall by the Arizona Diamondback.
