San Pedro’s motto: If the other team doesn’t have the ball, it can’t score.
The Pirates opened the third quarter with a drive that took 9:05 off the clock. Unfortunately for San Pedro, the drive ended in a 21-yard field goal from Corey Hughes to make the score 17-0 with 2:55 left.
Venice only had the ball for one play on the following drive. Pirates defensive end Alonzo Lefridge recovered a fumble at San Pedro’s 47-yard line after Venice quarterback Alfonso Medina threw a 21-yard pass to Tim Mills.
The Pirates went three and out on the next drive, as did the Gondoliers.
