Los Angeles Loyola has received a bequest of $1.6 million from alumnus Michael Leahy that will provide endowment support for its football program.
The school announced that it will name its head coach’s position after Leahy, a 1948 graduate who played for the Cubs.
The school will use $1 million of the gift for the football program. Another part of the donation will go toward acquiring land for a third athletic field.
