Boys’ soccer: Ericson Penante gets three goals for El Camino Real

Ericson Penante scored three goals to help No. 2-seeded Woodland Hills El Camino Real defeat Hamilton, 5-0, in a City Section boys’ soccer playoff opener.
The 32-team tournament produced one giant upset. No. 29 Belmont defeated defending champion South East, the No. 4 seed, on penalty kicks.
Top-seeded Bell defeated Santee, 5-0. Canoga Park advanced on penalty kicks against Locke. Taft defeated Marshall, 1-0. Palisades defeated Torres, 3-0. Fremont defeated Venice, 1-0. Van Nuys defeated Central #16, 3-0. San Fernando defeated San Pedro, 4-0. Huntington Park defeated Manual Arts, 3-1. Jefferson advanced over West Adams on penalty kicks.
Birmingham defeated Gardena, 3-1. Narbonne defeated Arleta, 1-0. Maywood defeated North Hollywood, 1-0. Banning defeated Los Angeles Kennedy, 2-1.
