Huntington Beach Edison has had a strong run in the amateur draft over the last two seasons.
In 2011, pitcher Henry Owens was taken No. 36 overall by the Red Sox and shortstop Christian Lopes went in the sixth round to the Blue Jays.
This year, shortstop Tim Lopes, Christian’s brother, went in the sixth round to the Mariners, and former Edison pitcher Kurt Heyer, a junior at Arizona, went to the Cardinals in the sixth round.
Also, former Edison pitcher Nic Hanson was drafted in the 16th round.
