The 14 special versions of the Navy’s F-16 jet fighter will be used as “adversary aircraft” in training pilots on Soviet air tactics. The initial $77.35-million value of the contract awarded General Dynamics’ Fort Worth division may be doubled later. The announcement appears to end an unusual bidding contest between General Dynamics, Los Angeles-based Northrop and LTV Aerospace & Defense. Northrop had hoped to sell its new F-20 fighter.
