CPB Doubles ‘Kidvid’ Budget

WASHINGTON — The Corporation for Public Broadcasting today doubled its 1985 budget for children’s daytime and evening educational programming from $2 million to $4 million, and agreed to raise it to $6 million in 1986.
The change in the budget, unanimously approved by the CPB’s 10-member board of directors, was made possible in part by supplemental funds agreed to last year by Congress. But CPB President Ed Pfister pointed out that more than 80% of the money came from other CPB funds.
