Would-Be Robber Asks for a New Lease on Life at Bank

The man who sat down at the new accounts desk of the main Crocker National Bank branch in San Bernardino on Wednesday had a brown paper bag and a note demanding money.
He apparently also had a conscience.
Before the bank employee could fill the bag, he told her he needed help and asked her to call police.
Then he sat quietly and waited for officers to arrive.
Detective Fred Kuhr said James T. Moore, 52, of Napa told of being desperate and of having no place to go. He was not armed.
Moore was booked for investigation of attempted robbery.
