An American Roman Catholic delegation arrived in Havana for a five-day visit at the invitation of Jaime Ortega, archbishop of Havana. It is highest-ranking church group to visit Communist Cuba since the 1959 revolution. The delegation includes Bishop James W. Malone, president of the Bishops Conference of the United States, Archbishop Bernard F. Law of Boston and San Antonio’s Archbishop Patrick Flores. They are expected to talk with government officials about the position of the church in Cuba, chances for better U.S.-Cuban relations and prospects for peace in Central America.
