Kim Chatard had only one point in the Frontier League game, but he couldn’t have scored it at a better time. The Nordhoff High guard hit a free throw with 11 seconds left in overtime to push the Rangers past Calabasas.
Center Richard Hawks scored 25 points and guard Scott Stallings added 22 to pace Nordhoff. Jason DeGrande chipped in with 15 points for the Rangers.
Steve Ward led Calabasas with 25 points, and center John Perlstein had 15 points and 19 rebounds. Bill Frudenthal and Jim Fagelson scored 12 and 11 points, respectively.
The win left Nordhoff with a 2-1 record in the league and 12-5 overall. Calabasas is 1-2 in the league and 9-7 overall.
