Swartz Installed as Leader of Building Industry Assn.

Stanley C. Swartz, president of Miramar Financial, San Diego, has been seated as 1985 president of the California Building Industry Assn., succeeding Walter Keusder, president of Keusder Enterprises, Newport Beach.
Other new officers are Forrest Maurer, Forrest Maurer Builder, Sacramento, first vice president; Joseph A. Farina, Westwood Properties, Fresno, second vice president; Roger C. Werbel, Roger C. Werbel Inc., Monterey Park, treasurer, and Harold A. Boex, H & B Developers, Vallejo, secretary.
Swartz said he will make broad-based public financing for construction of infrastructure, such as schools and freeway interchanges, a priority of the association, along with diversifying into areas of concern to commercial-industrial builders, such as new state non-residential energy standards.
The new president added that 196,000 new homes should be built in California this year, 13% fewer than in 1984, and that non-residential construction will probably decline 4%, reflecting builders’ fears that interest rates will rise by midyear.
