An 83-year-old retired civil service worker died after he was struck by a pickup truck while crossing the street in the 6400 block of El Cajon Boulevard, authorities said. Clarence A. Weim was pronounced dead at Sharp Memorial Hospital at about 8:30 p.m. Saturday, police spokeswoman Jan McGill said. Weim, who lived in the state college area on Aragon Drive, was in a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a truck and hurled 60 feet by the impact. He died from internal injuries, San Diego County coroner’s deputy Penne Hammerstead said. McGill said the driver of the truck was not cited because the intersection is poorly lighted “and he just didn’t see the victim until it was too late.” The driver’s name was not immediately available.
