W. German Avalanches Kill 3 in Ski Patrols

BERCHTESGADEN, West Germany — Avalanches on two mountains in the Bavarian Alps killed three ski patrol members, police said Monday.
A group of Austrian ski patrol members on a recreational outing on Watzmann Mountain in West Germany’s southeastern corner touched off a snowslide 100 yards wide on Saturday, Bavarian state authorities said Sunday. Two died after being taken to a hospital.
A West German ski patroller skiing with four companions was found dead after being swept 350 yards down Halserspitze Mountain near Kreuth, police said.
