The House of Representatives passed a non-binding resolution urging Taiwan to send anyone accused of murdering journalist Henry Liu to the United States to stand trial. Liu, who wrote books critical of Taiwan’s government, was murdered at his Daly City home last Oct. 15. Two reputed members of an underground gang in Taiwan have been sentenced to life imprisonment for their part in the murder, but Taiwanese authorities have not agreed to send them, or three military intelligence officers suspected of involvement, to the United States. There is no extradition treaty or formal diplomatic relations between Taiwan and the United States.
