El Toro : Board Eases Land Use Rules Near Marine Base

In a move to allow additional development around the El Toro Marine Corps Air Station, the Board of Supervisors has voted to override regulations that would have limited buildings in two safety zones near the base to 25 and 50 workers respectively.

The board adopted a density limit of 100 and 200 workers for all current and planned buildings in those areas. The U.S. Department of the Navy had approved the higher figures four years ago, but the county’s Airport Land Use Commission adopted the lower density level.

The vote this week was 4 to 0, with Supervisor Ralph Clark absent.
