VIEWERS’ VIEWS

Why oh why did Channel 2 interrupt the wonderful movie “Coal Miner’s Daughter” so many times with premature and unwanted election coverage? Twice the station had nothing to report but insignificant absentee ballots, yet they filled air time with meaningless speculation. What with boring scenes of election-night party rooms and the network’s usual barrage of commercials, all continuity of the film’s story line was lost. Why do stations assume all viewers are political animals when most evidence, particularly turnout at the polls, indicates otherwise?
