Grading and utility work is under way at East Highlands Ranch, a 1,765-acre development north of Redlands in San Bernardino County that will eventually have about 3,600 houses.
The master developer is East Highlands Ranch Inc., Ontario, an affiliate of Mobil. The first phase will have 254 single-family homes and town houses on 80 acres at Base Line and Church streets.
East Highlands Ranch is the largest planned unit development in San Bernardino County, according to Roger J. Krause, the firm’s marketing vice president. In addition to houses, a five-acre lake and greenbelts, the development--phase over the next 10 years--will have 42 acres of commercial space and 965 acres of natural land bordering the San Bernardino National Forest.
