Abbott Is Freeway League Player of Year

Sunny Hills High School pitcher Paul Abbott, who compiled a 9-2 record and struck out 127 batters, was named the Player of the Year in the Freeway League in a vote of the league’s coaches.

Abbott, a senior who has signed a national letter of intent to attend Cal State Fullerton, also batted .467 with 35 hits and drove in 29 runs.

The league-champion Lancers placed four players on the first team and Coach Doug Elliott was named Coach of the Year.
