Mrs. Bush Gets Award for Fight Against Illiteracy

WASHINGTON — The Coalition of Adult Education Organizations presented its annual Outstanding Service Award on Thursday to Barbara Bush, wife of Vice President George Bush, for her efforts to combat illiteracy.
The group said Mrs. Bush has taken part in more than 275 events promoting efforts to help the estimated 27 million illiterate American adults.
