Beverly will build retirement homes in Japan.

The Pasadena-based company and Shimizu Construction Co. of Tokyo said they will establish a joint venture to build different kinds of housing for the elderly in Japan. Homes for independent older people would be built first, with health-care services possibly included in the project later. Officials of Beverly Enterprises said the venture would become active in early 1986.
