WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — A new computer dating service for cows aims to find them mates in minutes, so they won’t have to stand around chewing the cud for a week.
Matchmakers at the Holstein Friesian Assn. of America are investing $500,000 to load their pedigree records into computers that farmers can tap into from their personal computers.
Within a year, farmers will be able to register their calves at birth. Later, when a little barnyard romance is called for, farmers tap in again and get the details on suitable mates.
