Singapore Cracks Down on Expatriates

SINGAPORE — Singapore passed a law Friday to revoke the citizenship of anyone who has stayed abroad for more than 10 years without good reason.
Home Affairs Minister Shanmugam Jayakumar told Parliament the law was necessary because many citizens went abroad in the early 1950s and 1960s when Singapore was going through difficult times and now wanted to return.
