The exclusive Jonathan Club in Santa Monica has sued the state Coastal Commission, claiming the agency violated the club’s constitutional rights by requiring it to admit members without regard to race, sex or religion. The commission imposed the condition last month when it approved the expansion of the club’s beachfront property.
