PLO ‘Cabinet’ Ends 2-Day Tunis Talks

TUNIS, Tunisia — The so-called inner Cabinet of the Palestine Liberation Organization ended a two-day meeting Saturday in which it discussed future policy after last month’s Arab summit meeting in Casablanca, a spokesman said.
The 10-man PLO Executive Committee, headed by Yasser Arafat, also called in a statement for an international Middle East peace conference to be held under U.N. auspices, the spokesman said.
The committee decided to send a delegation of leaders of Fatah, the main PLO grouping, to Arab states to consult on the holding of such a conference and on moves in the wake of the summit, he said.
The Aug. 7-9 Casablanca summit approved a compromise response to a Palestinian-Jordanian accord signed in Amman in February but neither approved nor rejected the accord.
The Amman accord called for talks with the United States and Israel and for a Jordanian-Palestinian confederation to be set up in territory now occupied by Israel.
