LAS VEGAS — Host UNLV defeated Cal State Northridge, 4-0, Saturday night in the championship game of the UNLV Rebel Soccer Classic.
The Matadors (5-1-0) were stifled offensively and had only three shots on goal in a battle of undefeated teams before 700 fans.
UNLV, meanwhile, kept Northridge goalie Phil Heaver busy, forcing him to make six saves of 12 attempted shots.
Defensive mistakes were costly for the Matadors, with two interceptions leading to a pair of easy Rebel scores in front of the net.
