The Census Bureau has opened offices in Bell and Compton to launch operations for the 1986 census of southeast Los Angeles County. The special interim census is part of preparations for the national count in 1990.
Census officials are seeking about 150 temporary employees for about four weeks beginning in November to go door-to-door updating the address list to be used next spring to mail census questionnaires to each household in the census area. Pay rates start at $6 an hour.
Applicants may register at the Bell office in Building 1, Bay E, 5600 Rickenbacker Road; or at the Compton office at 2221 E. Rosecrans Ave.
