Servite, El Modena Are Tied for No. 1 in Prep Football Poll

Servite High School lost for the first time this season, a 26-21 setback to undefeated Bishop Amat, and is tied with El Modena for the top spot in the Orange County Sportswriters’ Assn. prep football poll.
Each team has 94 points, the first time there has been a tie for No. 1 in the poll’s 10-year history.
Servite received six, first-place votes but one sportswriter voted the Friars fourth. El Modena received four, first-place votes. El Modena previously had the top ranking in the poll before losing to Foothill.
On Thursday, Servite meets rival Mater Dei at Santa Ana Stadium, and Edison plays host to Marina for the Sunset League championship at LeBard Stadium in Costa Mesa.
