Anthony De Costa, 24, of Santa Rosa, died after being buried for two hours in an avalanche near a chairlift at Sugar Bowl ski resort near Donner Summit. Rescue workers located De Costa by probing the snow with poles, but he died shortly after arrival at Tahoe Forest Hospital in Truckee. A second skier, Richard Williams, 19, of San Anselmo, was also buried, but he was located quickly and was not seriously injured.
