UCLA’s Soccer Fans Are Left in the Dark

There must have been thousands of UCLA fans (and soccer enthusiasts in general) who searched the L.A. Times sports section in vain Sunday for some account of the NCAA soccer final in Seattle. After your lengthy article devoted to the UCLA soccer team, I fully expected that The Times would really give this game the coverage a national champion deserves.

Times staff writer Gordon Edes did indeed cover the NCAA soccer final. But the eight-overtime game ended so late that some home edition papers did not include the story. A replated edition that caught more than 70% of the circulation area did contain Edes’ story.
