Construction is under way for a new $30-million state-of-the-art writing-instrument plant of Scripto Tokai in Rancho Cucamonga.
The new plant, to be located adjacent to Tokai of America, on 7th Street and Haven Drive, will replace Scripto’s 50-year-old buildings in Monrovia, known as Anja Engineering Co., a wholly owned subsidiary that makes finished products for Scripto.
Features of the highly automated building, designed by Kajima Associates and being built by Kajima International, include a computerized ink manufacturing facility, automatic material handling system from the molding area to manufacturing space, and assembly equipment.
The proposed 58,000-square-foot warehousing and shipping sections will include 20,000 square feet of computerized warehousing.
