Our snap-out socket comes off to Chris Willman for letting the air out of the tires of the Mercedes station-wagon band “Mike and the Mechanics” (Record Rack: “Mechanics Tinker With Prog-Rock,” Jan. 26).
The Mechanics live right here on the outskirts of L.A. and play the brand of raw, honest rock ‘n’ roll bred out of sheds and garages, not London town-houses.
We, The Mechanics, have just released our first album, “Parts and Labor” in Europe and we’re working on releasing it in America. And by the way, thanks for the photograph of “Mike and his Metric Unit.” We’ll hang it in the garage beside the fold-outs and throw darts at it.
