Goodyear Tire & Rubbber reported that, in the fourth quarter of 1985, its worldwide sales reached a record $2.48 billion, compared to $2.42 billion in the year before, but net income was $84.5 million for the three months, down 19.8% from $105.3 million reported a year earlier. Earnings from continuing operations during the fourth quarter of 1985 was down 9.7% from a year earlier. The Akron, Ohio-based tire manufacturer said its net income for 1985 reached $412.4 million on sales of $9.6 billion, up slightly from the $411 million in profit that it had recorded for the year before on about the same revenue.
