Encore Wins Race on Corrected Time

Encore, a Diva-39 skippered by Dick Knoth, San Diego Yacht Club, used her handicap time to emerge as the overall corrected time winner in the 1,100-mile San Diego to Manzanillo yacht race.
Second overall was the Nelson-Marek-43 Eclipse, co-skippered by William Bannasch and Leslie Crouch, also from the host club, and third was Travieso, a Nelson-Marek-44 sailed by Ron Kuntz of Oceanside Yacht Club.
Final handicap results were computed Sunday despite the fact that five boats were still at sea at the morning roll call. None of them could save its handicap time. Still at sea were Dimensions, Toboggan, Morning Star, Nalu and Auspicious.
Encore and Eclipse are both Class C entries, and Travieso is Class B.
