Two high school seniors who were suspended for publishing an underground newspaper called The Hatchet Job will receive an undisclosed amount of money and an apology from the Fallbrook Union High School District. In an out-of-court settlement, the district also agreed to co-sponsor a one-day public workshop on First Amendment rights of free speech and press and its interaction with high school regulations. In return, Philip Tiso, 18, and Daniel Gluesenkamp, 17, will drop their $11-million lawsuit against the district. “Daniel and I won,” Tiso said. “But more importantly, all the students in California won.”
