Six Simi Valley businesses that sell alcoholic beverages were cited for selling alcohol to a minor during a three-hour sting operation, the Simi Valley Police Department reported Saturday.
A 19-year-old Police Department employee entered 13 supermarkets, convenience stores and liquor stores Friday night and attempted to purchase beer, Police Lt. Bob Klamser said .
In six businesses, employees sold beer to the youth without making any attempt to determine his age, Klamser said. The employees were cited for a misdemeanor violation and could be fined up to $500. The cases will be referred to the state Alcoholic Beverage Control Department for possible disciplinary action against the holders of the stores’ liquor sales licenses, Klamser said.
