Ground Broken for New Loma Linda Hospital Wing

Ground-breaking ceremonies have launched construction of a $43-million, 48-bed south wing at the Loma Linda University Medical Center, financed by tax-exempt hospital revenue bonds.
The seven-story, 237,876-square-foot building will increase the facility to 594 beds upon completion in two years.
Included in the new addition will be space for materiel distribution and sterile supply, relocation and expansion of the surgery suite, clinical laboratory, neonatal intensive care unit and medical intensive care unit. Two floors will be “shelled in” for future construction.
Rep. Jerry Lewis (R-Redlands) participated in the ceremonies, along with Wallace Coe, chairman of the board of the center’s trustees; Norman J. Woods, university president; David B. Hinshaw, university vice president for medical affairs, and John D. Ruffcorn, president of the medical center.
