Viratek Inc., a Costa Mesa-based pharmaceutical firm, reported record net income of $2 million for its first fiscal quarter ended Feb. 28, compared with a loss of $609,000 a year ago.
Revenue was $3.4 million, compared with $378,000 for the year-ago quarter.
Viratek, an affiliate of ICN Pharmaceuticals Inc., attributed the first-quarter gain to broadened sales of Virazole, which was sold by the company for the first time in the United States during the quarter. Previously, the drug had been marketed internationally.
