Nevada A-Test Still on Hold; Winds Blamed

NEVADA TEST SITE — A controversial underground nuclear weapons test remained on hold here Wednesday, reportedly because of unfavorable wind conditions.
There had been reports that the test, originally scheduled for Tuesday, would be held Wednesday morning.
About 210 anti-nuclear protesters turned out for a second day at the gates of the sprawling Nevada Test Site, 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas, to urge that the United States join the Soviet Union in a test ban.
Two more demonstrators were arrested at the site Wednesday, bringing to 96 the number arrested since protests began over the weekend in an effort to halt the test.
Some anti-nuclear groups said they had members on the top-secret site or planned to place members on the site in a continuing effort to halt the test.
