Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega told a rally of 500 farmers that his Sandinista government will supply weapons to ordinary Nicaraguans to help defeat any invasion by the United States. Speaking in Santo Domingo de Chontales, 120 miles east of Managua, Ortega said, “We are going to to get guns to those who do not yet have any, so that every Nicaraguan can defend his land, his life and the lives of his children. . . “
