Benjamin Aranda, a municipal judge for the South Bay Judicial District of Los Angeles County, was named chairman of Blue Cross of California, Oakland, succeeding Daniel L. Smith, who retired.
Leonard D. Schaeffer continues as president and chief executive.
Gerald L. Shott, executive vice president of First Interstate Bancorp, Los Angeles, was named corporate secretary and Hal W. Sconyers, president of Modesto Banking Co., was reelected to the board and named treasurer.
