Brea police issued a nationwide alert for information regarding the whereabouts of the wife of a Los Angeles police detective. Investigators said Marie Andrea Malmgreen, 38, has not been seen since she took her daughters, ages 16 and 12, to school in the Orange County city last Tuesday. Her husband, LAPD Detective Russell Malmgreen, is a former member of that department’s anti-terrorist unit, and now serves as a judicial liaison officer in Chief Daryl F. Gates’ office. Brea police said Mrs. Malmgreen had no history of disappearances and none of family problems or mental disturbance. “We have absolutely no motive for . . . disappearance,” said police spokesman Douglas Dickerson.
